Lost 'net access?

Life is sweet if you are using our service with an ATA: you use your existing phone service as if it's regular phone service and you get accustomed to better voice quality and lower rates. Sometimes however, for reasons beyond your control, your home Internet access may be terminated. Here's a few things you can do to help your situation:

• 1. Forward your calls to another phone, such as your mobile phone. To do so, login to your account -> My Services -> click on your DID (phone number) then enter your other phone number in the space provided. This will ensure that you can answer incoming calls as they ring.

  2. Take your ATA with you: if you go in a holiday or anywhere with Internet access, you can connect your ATA and then your phone to your ATA. Likewise, you can install a smartphone on any computer and use your account credentials.

  3. Set up your smartphone to use VoIP. This makes sense if you have an Internet plan subscription from your mobile phone provider. You would need to download and install a VoIP app such as fring.

  4. Update your voicemail greeting to alert callers to your temporary situation. If you have forgotten your PIN or any other password, we can reset it for you.

  5. Replace your voicemail message with an IVR menu. You could give your callers options to leave a message in your voicemail, listen to prerecorded messages or even to page you on your cell phone. There can even be secret options to call you on your work phone, for instance. Plan it out on paper (as a flowchart), record the messages in .wav PCM 8kHz 16 bits Mono format and we'll make it happen.

  6. One option in your IVR could allow you to make outgoing calls upon entering a password - this can even be a secret, unlisted option in the main menu or a submenu. We can force your chosen Caller ID on that particular option so that it appears that the call is originating from home even though you may be making the call from your office.

  7. Last but not least, consider replacing your Internet provider altogether. There is a competitive marketplace out there. In most of Canada for instance, Teksavvy has a reputation for good customer service and low rates.
